The Kovacs team presents and wins an award at ICN2023!

The Kovacs team attended the International Congress of Neuropathology 2023 (ICN2023) in Berlin, Germany. We presented in total 6 posters and 3 talks. As a highlight, Dr. Ivan Martinez-Valbuena from our team won the prestigious Franz Nissl Award, given to young scientist in recognition of an outstanding research contribution to neuropathology.

Dr. Ivan Martinez-Valbuena received the Franz Nissl Award and gave a lecture on “Towards the molecular classification of movement disorders”

Seojin Lee, PhD candidate in the Kovacs Lab, gave an oral presentation on “Neurodegenerative Proteinopathy-Specific Dysregulation of Iron Homeostasis in the Human Brain”

Dr. Hidetomo Tanaka gave a flash talk on “Consistent and distinct involvement of the cranial and spinal nerves in PSP and other tauopathies”

Dr. Tomoya Kon presented “Dynamic change of synuclein transcription during Lewy body formation”

Dr. Shelley Forrest presented “Cell-specific MAPT gene expression is preserved in neuronal and glial tau cytopathologies in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy”

Ain Kim, PhD candidate in Kovacs Lab, presented “Regional variability of alpha-synuclein inclusion size in Multiple System Atrophy”
